Last updated: January 18, 2024

Service 2000 Appliances (hereinafter referred to as “Service 2000”) is a company located in Quebec. This privacy statement applies to Service 2000, including all its divisions and regional offices. This statement describes Service 2000’s practices regarding the processing of personal information of our current or potential customers, visitors to our website (https://www.service2000.ca, the “Website”), and individuals who communicate with us by phone, Internet, fax, or other means.

If you want to avoid Service 2000 collecting or processing your personal information as described in this statement, please do not provide us with this information. However, please note that this may prevent us from providing you with some of our essential services in the absence of necessary personal information.

Service 2000's Commitment to Privacy

At Service 2000, “personal information” refers to information that can be used to directly or indirectly identify an individual. However, information related to a business and business contact information collected to send commercial communications is generally not considered personal information.

We place great importance on the privacy of our clients and visitors to our website. For this reason, we have implemented and will continue to implement necessary measures to ensure the confidentiality of the personal information in our possession. Our privacy officer leads our privacy program; their contact information is available for any questions.

This privacy statement clarifies 1) the manner and reasons why we collect personal information; 2) how we use it; 3) measures taken to secure access to this information; 4) how to view personal information about you; and 5) contacts to prioritize for any questions or concerns about our privacy policies and practices.

    Collection of personal information

    Automatic Collection

    We may automatically receive certain information when you interact with our website, emails, or online advertising. For example, we may know the type of Internet browser or operating system you are using, your IP address, your activity on different sections of our website, and the domain name you just left.

    We may use this information to communicate with you and provide your company with information about our services.

    If your browser settings allow, we may store some data on your computer as “cookies” or other tracking or tracing technologies. Cookies are small information stored on your computer, allowing us to recognize it each time you visit the website. We may also use cookies to transmit content or store data (to avoid having to retype your password, for example). If you wish, you can disable cookies by changing your Internet browser’s settings; however, this setting may prevent you from fully using all or some of the website’s features.

    Google Analytics is a Google analytics service that monitors website traffic and collects data about it. Google uses the collected data to track and monitor the use of our website and communicates it to other Google services. Google may also use it to contextualize and personalize the ads of its advertising network. You can prevent the transmission of your web activity to Google Analytics by installing an opt-out extension. Specifically, this browser extension prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript files (ga.js, analytics.js, dc.js) from sending information about your activity to Google Analytics. To learn more about Google’s privacy practices, see its privacy policy.

    Information Provided by the User

    When you interact with Service 2000, you may provide us with personal information, such as: your contact information (name, address, email, phone number, etc.) and information related to your professional activity (position, function, etc.) that we can use to respond to your request, manage your member file, or process your service request, if applicable; and your financial information (credit card number, bank account information, etc.) necessary for the processing and administration of your member file. We do not retain credit card data: this information is managed by the secure service of an external provider.

    We may also collect your information when you apply for a job at Service 2000. In such cases, we will only ask for the information necessary to process your application (e.g., your contact details and CV, particularly for information about your previous jobs and education). We will retain your information under the policies applicable to our employees.

    Social Media

    We may invite you to interact with us through third-party-operated websites, plug-ins, and social networking applications. On these platforms, you can give us access to your social media account information. We may use this information to verify your identity and customize your experience on our website.

    Use of Personal Information

    As part of our activities, we collect and use certain information about our members and prospects, such as their contact information (name, address, email, and phone number), to process their requests, provide services, and understand their needs to better serve them. We use credit card data to collect membership fees and process other payments. We may use your personal information to:

    • answer your questions and, at your request, forward them to a third party if you need their assistance;
    • manage and respond to service requests;
    • process payment for transaction-related fees;
    • fulfill regulatory or contractual obligations related to the services and products provided to you,
    • identify you when you visit the website and improve our online services and website administration.

    Disclosure of Personal Information

    We disclose personal information internally and within our regional offices, but only to teams that reasonably need to know it to provide you with our services.

    At a member’s request and with their consent, we may also put them in contact with a third-party provider as part of our services. Dans de telles circonstances, les renseignements personnels divulgués au tiers se limitent à ceux en notre possession dont il a besoin pour nous fournir les services en question ou faciliter la résolution de votre demande de service.

    Nous pouvons aussi divulguer vos renseignements personnels dans les cas suivants :

    • si une loi, un règlement, un mandat de perquisition, une assignation à témoigner ou l’ordonnance d’un tribunal nous autorise ou nous oblige légalement à le faire;
    • si les fournisseurs de services qui nous aident dans nos activités ont besoin de ces renseignements;
    • if disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of website users or to detect and prevent any fraudulent or reprehensible behavior, or if required or permitted by law to protect our rights and those of our customers and partners;
    • if we sell, transfer, or otherwise dispose of our business to an affiliate, successor, assignee, or third party;
    • if we have obtained your prior consent (for example, we may ask for your permission to transmit your contact information to a partner whose offers may interest you; see above).

    Except in the cases described above, we commit not to sell, rent, share, or disclose the personal information in our possession and not to make our member list available to anyone without your consent.

      Third-Party Service Providers

      We use external contractors, such as information technology providers, credit card processing information services, or collection services, to name a few. The contractors we hire and our third-party service providers are contractually obligated to maintain privacy policies and data security measures at least as strict as ours. Some of them store and process information outside your province or Canada, where local authorities may have the right to access it. If you have questions about our use of third parties or the transfer of your information outside Canada, contact our privacy officer (at the contact details provided below).

      Retention Period of Personal Information

      Personal information is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes above. We commit to destroying, deleting, or anonymizing them when they are no longer necessary. The law may require us to retain some or all of the personal information for longer than we deem necessary in other circumstances.

      Accuracy of Personal Information

      To ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the personal information you provided, we ask you to update it and notify us of any errors that may have crept in.

      Security Measures

      We take technological, organizational, and physical precautions to protect the personal information in our possession against any unauthorized use, access, disclosure, dissemination, loss, or modification. This information will only be accessible to authorized employees who need it to adequately perform their duties, and access will be limited to information strictly necessary for the exercise of these duties. The same restrictions apply to our third-party service providers.

      Access to Personal Information

      Everyone has the right to consult and correct the personal information we have about them. You can access your personal information and have it corrected by sending us a written request. We usually respond within 30 days unless processing your request takes longer for reasons beyond our control, in which case you will be informed.

      Communication with the Privacy Officer

      The role of the privacy officer is to ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws and this policy and to respond to questions, concerns, and complaints. At Service 2000, this responsibility is held by the person who is the Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration. Questions and comments can be addressed to them at the following contact details:

We strongly recommend reading the privacy policy of the third party before disclosing any personal information to them. That said, we wish to preserve the integrity of our website and welcome any comments about the external sites linked to it.
