Bosch Repair Centre 2025

Our technicians diagnose and repair the most common problems: a washer that won’t drain, leaks, or is noisy during the spin cycle. A CAA-Quebec Recommended company, we offer a one-year warranty on parts and labour for every repair.

Why choose Service 2000 for your washer repair?

A broken washer is often an emergency: water damage looming, laundry piling up, an already busy day. When you book your appointment, the technician notes the brand, model, and symptom you describe, then arrives with the parts most likely needed — resolving the issue on the first visit in most cases. The diagnostic is billed at a flat rate, no matter how long it takes to identify the problem, and every repair is covered by a one-year warranty on parts and labour.

The appliance brands we repair most often

The most frequently repaired brands are often the most popular ones — not the least reliable. Here are the brands our technicians work on most.

Top 5 most common washer problems

Some problems come up more often than others. Here’s what our technicians find in the field for each common symptom.

1. Washer won’t drain

The most common cause is the drain pump.

Water remains at the bottom of the drum at the end of the cycle. The drain pump is almost always the cause — blocked by a foreign object or worn out. Cleaning the drain circuit sometimes solves the problem without a replacement.

2. Water leak (leaking washer)

The location of the leak directly guides the diagnosis.

A leak around the door points to the door gasket — the most common cause. A leak underneath or behind the machine comes from the water inlet valve or the drain hose.

3. Washer won’t spin

The most common cause is mechanical: a faulty transmission, belt, or actuator.

On top-loading washers, the belt between the motor and transmission is the part most often at fault — it absorbs shocks and wears down over time. On front-loaders, the motor position sensor or actuator is more often involved. A faulty door lock can also block the spin cycle: the machine thinks the door is open and refuses to start the cycle. Check first: an unbalanced load prevents spinning on most modern models — this is a built-in safety feature, not a defect.

4. Stops mid-cycle

The same behaviour can hide several distinct problems.

If the washer fills but doesn’t wash, the door lock is often the cause. If it washes but doesn’t drain, the drain pump or a blocked hose is the main suspect. If it stops randomly at different stages, the electronic control board or a faulty sensor is usually involved — an error code on the display can then guide the diagnosis, without necessarily indicating which part is at fault. A simple reset — unplugging for 30 seconds and plugging back in — can fix a one-time electronic glitch. If the problem comes back, service is needed.

5. Unusual noise and vibration

Leveling and load size should be checked before suspecting a mechanical problem.

A noise during the spin cycle usually points to a worn bearing or shaft, particularly on front-loading washers. An unlevel washer or an unbalanced load can also cause significant vibration without any part being defective — this is the first thing to check. If the problem persists with normal loads and a properly leveled machine, the suspension or shock absorbers should be inspected.

What happens during a washer repair?

When booking your appointment, please provide the brand, model, serial number, and a description of the symptom. The technician will arrive with the parts most likely needed based on the described problem, in order to resolve the situation on the first visit.

The diagnostic is billed at a flat rate, regardless of how long it takes to identify the problem. Repairs are then quoted using clear labour rates — the cost doesn’t depend on the technician’s individual speed or experience.

Repairing your washer yourself?

Some simple jobs are within reach of a careful, well-equipped user. If you’d like to try the repair yourself, check out our washer parts section. Our specialists can advise you before you place your order. A washer combines water, electricity, and mechanics — improper handling can worsen the problem or create a hazard.

Washer Repair FAQ

Why does my washer leave soap residue on my clothes after washing?

This is often related to using too much detergent or a water distribution issue. If the problem persists after adjusting the detergent amount, a technician can check the water distribution system.

Why does my front-load washer smell musty?

This usually isn’t a mechanical failure, but a maintenance issue (door seal, dirty drum). A technician can inspect the appliance and confirm if a part needs replacing.

My front-load washer uses much less water than before. Is this a sign of a problem?

Not necessarily, some cycles automatically adjust water levels based on the load. But if clothes come out poorly rinsed, it could point to a load sensor or a water inlet valve worth checking.

Does a more complex washer repair require multiple visits?

Most repairs are completed in a single visit. A second visit may be needed if a part has to be ordered after the initial diagnostic.

My washer won’t start at all, even the light is off. What should I check before calling?

Check that the door is properly latched and that the appliance is getting power (breaker, outlet). If the problem persists, it’s likely a control board or electrical issue.

My washer shakes or vibrates a lot during the spin cycle. Is this dangerous?

It can damage the appliance or the floor over time. This is often related to poor leveling, worn shock absorbers, or an unevenly distributed load.

My washer isn’t filling with water. What are the possible causes?

This can come from a clogged water inlet valve, a water pressure issue, or a faulty level sensor. A diagnostic confirms the exact cause.

My washer won’t start a specific cycle (spin, rinse) but works fine for others. What causes this?

This usually points to an issue with the cycle selector or the control board rather than a general mechanical failure. A diagnostic identifies the exact part at fault.

My washer, stacked with a dryer, vibrates or moves more than a floor-standing washer. Is this normal?

A bit more vibration is normal in a stacked setup, but excessive movement can indicate a poorly secured stacking kit or worn shock absorbers.

Great service! My washer stopped working after my basement was flooded. He was in my area and had an opening, so he came 5 days before my scheduled appointment. He called first to make sure I was available.
